About

Becky has long been fascinated by birds and fish. Along with being a qualified bird ringer for the British bird ringing scheme, she is also a dedicated aquarist and enjoys catching and observing wild fish.
Her early childhood days were spent watching, feeding and drawing wild birds in her local area under the mentorship of her late Godfather.
Her childhood home was never without goldfish, which is still one of her favourite species to keep today, and her enthusiasm for them paved the way to many other fish-related activities.

Becky's life is dominated by a passion for birds and fish. It is from this passion that the name "Wing & Fin Designs" was selected as a suitable signature for her artwork.
She has been illustrating professionally for over eighteen years. She enjoys using gouache and watercolour for her traditional pieces, while her digital tool of choice is Adobe Photoshop.
Birds, fish and fantasy creatures feature heavily in Becky's art, with scenes and backgrounds inspired by the local environment.Art and the great outdoors are only part of Becky's story; she also has a long-standing career in software engineering. Despite this she prefers to keep screen-time to a minimum outside of her working hours.

Becky hails from the beautiful Lower Derwent Valley NNR in Northern England which boasts year-round mild weather and flooded "ings" in winter. The majority of Becky's work as a bird ringer is accomplished locally within the valley, the data of which is important on a national level.
